Finally, The Nigerian government has given approval to the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to quickly commence preparations for the reopening of orientation camps nationwide.
The approval was given by the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 on Thursday, September 3, The Nation reported.
Dr Sani Aliyu, the national coordinator of the task force said the government was developing strict measures to ensure there is no outbreak of COVID-19 infections when NYSC camps reopen.
For the National Youth Service Corps, the NYSC is to consolidate on safety measures currently being put in place and start preparing for the reopening of orientation camps when educational institutions open, he said.
“We are in the process of developing strict guidelines to ensure there is no outbreak of Covid-19 when this process starts
Meanwhile, Lagos, Anambra, Kogi, and Osun States have set resumption dates for schools to reopen from 14 and 21 September, 2020, while Kogi State have ordered Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions to reopen on 14 September, 2020.
While, States including Ogun, Katsina, Bauchi, Enugu, Sokoto, Gombe and Ekiti on Sunday ruled out full reopening of schools, including tertiary institutions, despite the success recorded so far in the fight against COVID-19.
