National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) is one of five Federal Government Social Investment Program set to provide support for poor and vulnerable citizens through targeted cash transfers, capacity building, and coaching and mentoring and livelihood support.
The national cash transfer, a disbursement of N5, 000 monthly stipend to the poor and the vulnerable household, with a total of 10, 800 beneficiaries from more than 360 communities
NCTO through the Household Uplifting Programme provides support for poor and vulnerable citizens through targeted cash transfers, capacity building, and coaching and mentoring and livelihood support.
The National Cash Transfer Programme also known as Household Uplifting Programme (HUP) is one of the 4 social investment programmes anchored by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The programme commenced in September, 2016. It was conceived as part of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s (FGN) larger growth and social inclusion strategies aimed at addressing key social concerns in the country.
It is a component of National Social Safety Nets Project (NASSP) which is supported by the World Bank, to provide financial support to targeted poor and vulnerable Nigerian households.

Aims and objectives of establishing National Cash Transfer Office

Encourage household financial and asset acquisition.
Engage beneficiaries in sustainable livelihood.
The programme has 3 components which are as follows:
Base Cash Transfer
Top-Up based on State selected conditions and
National Cash Transfer
One of the major activities of the programme is to facilitate the transfer of N5, 000 per month to beneficiaries, which is paid on bi-monthly bases (every two months). The payment is given to all eligible households selected from the National Social Register (NSR). The second type of transfer known as top-up (additional five thousand also given bi-monthly) is given to a subset of the recipients of the first type of transfer, upon fulfilling certain conditions.
Who is eligible for National Cash Transfer of 5000?
he Conditional Cash Transfer supports the poor and vulnerable with N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira) per month, to improve consumption, with the aim of reducing poverty, preventing the vulnerable households from falling further down the poverty line and building their resilience to withstand shocks.
